Gotham Volunteer EMS, certified by the New York State Department of Health-Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, was established in 2023 to unite struggling volunteer EMS agencies. Originating from an operational partnership in 2019 between Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Middle Village Volunteer Ambulance Corps, this initiative demonstrated the viability of combining resources and personnel to prevent closure. Subsequently, Ridgewood extended partnerships to Glendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Woodhaven Richmond Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps later that year, paving the way for Gotham Volunteer EMS.

As COVID-19 exacerbated challenges faced by small volunteer agencies, Gotham Volunteer EMS, comprised of Middle Village, Glendale, Woodhaven Richmond Hill, and Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps, continues to uphold its founding principles across New York City's neighborhoods. We offer community-based emergency and non-emergency ambulance services, event stand-bys, and collaborate closely with elected officials, community groups, and nonprofits to ensure community safety.

Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., dba Gotham Volunteer EMS, a 501(c)3 non-profit established in 1975, also supports other volunteer EMS agencies through leadership training and operational assistance, aiming to sustain their services and preserve volunteer EMS in NYC.
